Services

The Pressed Leaf is a library and café in the Goblet that provides the following services:

A library with books on a wide range of topics, available for patrons to read freely while visiting
A book exchange. Used books in good condition may be brought in to trade. (Only a portion of the library is available for trading.)
A café that serves a variety of beverages, baked goods, and meals.
Free food distribution from the stalls located outside. Community members who are struggling to feed themselves or their families may choose from a variety of fresh produce and simple meals.
A community center. The Pressed Leaf seeks to facilitate learning and for conversation. It also has space set aside for young children to play.

The Pressed Leaf is a roleplay-friendly venue located at Plot 26 of the 28th Ward of the Goblet on Mateus in Final Fantasy XIV.The venue does not have scheduled hours and is often not staffed by player wait staff. You are welcome to roleplay in the venue at your leisure and have the non-player staff attend to your characters' requests.The kitchens and additional non-player staff are off-camera, on the other side of the sliding doors.

Staff

Loviatar Kheerin

Lovi is the manager of the Pressed Leaf. They bring a wealth of experience in food service and ~~people manipul–~~ business management. Outside of their work at the Pressed Leaf, Lovi is a scholar of the thaumaturgical arts with a love of ~~trashy roman–~~ fine literature.

Lovi is a player character. Their pronouns are they/them and she/her. Visit Lovi's carrd to learn more about them!

Rhenglac

Rhenglac handles the distribution of free food and makes sure patrons who sit outside have their needs met. A gentle giant, he always makes time for children who visit.

Rhenglac is an non-player character. You are welcome to roleplay that he handles orders for outside tables as well as handling any requests for free basic foodstuffs. Rhenglac also keeps the peace outside and will remove anyone causing problems. His pronouns are he/him.

Stovoj Tirasch

Stovoj helps with the outside duties on days when Rhenglac isn't working, distributing free food and assisting patrons seated outside. His boisterous, kind nature tends to quickly put children at ease and he can often be spotted playing with them in between his work. Stovoj also fills in as handy-man and can sometimes be spotted making repairs inside.

Reva

Reva's curiosity about the wider world led her to leave her home in Gyr Abania to meet new peoples. Though still learning the ways of Ul'dahn culture, her friendly demeanor makes customers feel welcome.

Reva is an non-player character. You are welcome to roleplay that she handles your orders at the upstairs counter. Of the three wait staff, she's the most likely to get your order wrong due to honest miscommunication. Her pronouns are she/her.

Clifton

Clifton makes sure visitors are comfortable in the downstairs library and lounge. When business is quiet, he also enjoys helping children learn to read and write.

Clifton is an non-player character. You are welcome to roleplay that he handles your orders at the downstairs counter. The other staff will also direct you to him for any requests involving trading books (and the Pressed Leaf will only accept common books; you will be directed to a proper bookseller if you have rare tomes). His pronouns are he/him.

J'vala Tirasch

Although J'vala owns the Pressed Leaf, he fully entrusts its management to Loviatar. However, he can still often be found visiting and occasionally even chips in to help out a bit if the café is particularly busy. He can also be found teaching from time to time.

J'vala is a player character. His pronouns are he/him. Visit J'vala's carrd to learn more about him!

Butterfly Kisses. A mixture of butterfly pea flower, papaya, orange peel, lemongrass, and apple. Inspired by La Noscea, this fruity and flowery tea is distinctively blue color from the butterfly pea petals. Recommended hot with honey; also available served cold with milk.
Melon Mash. Puréed Allagan melon is brightened with a dash of lemon, then sweetened with sugar to help cut the bite. Garnished with edible rose petals.
Melancholic Mourning. A Sharlayan blend of coffee that's served black and evokes the predawn darkness of a starless sky. Consumption may cause temporary ennui, but you'll feel energized afterwards.
Masala Chai. Thavnairian black tea simmered in milk with cardamom, cinnamon, ginger, cloves, and black pepper. Sweetened with fresh honey.

Want something else? We have a wide variety of Doman, Hingashi, Isghardian, and Thavnarian teas. We have coffees sourced from Sharlayan and La Noscea, available in various roasts and blends. We also carry a small selection of beers and wines. Whatever your palate, we can probably find something that suits!

Sandwiches & Savories

The Gentle Giant. Served on an oversized sultana roll, this titanic sandwich is suitable for parties of four or one very hungry guest. Piled high with thin-sliced boar, dodo, and mutton, as well as tangy Garlean-inspired cheese, fresh greens, pickled carrots, dodo egg mayonnaise, and hot mustard, this meal will warm your heart even as it fills your belly. Ask for it served Big and Blue to include our freshest baked treat of the day. Not as hungry? Ask for a Little Giant instead for a smaller sandwich that's more suitable for a single serving.
The Educated Guess. A generous slice of Scholar's loaf, incorporating roasted garlic and sagolii sage to soften the infamous fishy taste. Complimented by a flavorful goat cheese spread and a lightly spiced tomato soup, this meal will leave you well-nourished and ready to learn.
The Wandering Warrior. Ground dzo chuck, sun cabbage, radish, and onions wrapped in buttery dough and deep-fried in oil.
The Diplomat's Delight. Paneer marinated in aromatic Hannish spices, paired with bell peppers, onions, tomatoes, and green chutney, all nestled between slices of our freshly-baked bread. Served toasted.

Baked Goods & Desserts

Garlean Pastila (пастила). This tart and lightly sweet treat was once the favored snack of Garlean nobility—now it can be yours too! Made from fruit purée, sugar, and egg whites, it has a texture similar to marshmallow, and the dusting of powdered sugar on top makes for a delicate (but not too saccharine) snack. Goes great with tea!
The Stalwart Shield. A shield-shaped sesame seed and tahini cookie. Crunchy, nutty, not overly sweet, and extremely effective at tasting great.
Steppe Fried Dough (Боорцог). A puffy pillow of sweet fried dough served with a dusting of powdered sugar or a drizzle of honey. Perfect for dipping into milk tea!
The Sourpuss. This deceptively pink trifle will refresh your palate! A compote of sour cherries, tart rolanberries, and a bright burst of lemon harmoniously layer with pillowy whipped cream and dense cubes of lightly sweetened cake.
The Hat (Pullapitko). Inspired by a traditional loaf from the Blindfrost, this cardamom-spiced sweet roll is shaped to resemble a witch's hat. Pairs nicely with coffee.
Plant Loaf. A sweet and energy-dense cinnamon-spiced carrot bread with pecans. Popular among the nomadic peoples of Aerslant for keepings a ship's rowers going during long voyages.
Assorted Cookies. Our bakery makes a variety of freshly-baked cookies each day! The selection varies but often features favorites like oatmeal raisin, snickerdoodles, chocolate chip, gingerbread, shortbread, molasses, double chocolate, and peanut butter.

In addition to the signature menu items above, the Pressed Leaf has daily offerings that vary based on seasonality, market availability, and the staff's whims. Our kitchen staff will also attempt to accommodate special requests as best as they can!

You are welcome to roleplay orders that are outside of what's specifically listed. Please try to keep things reasonably thematic to our vibe, though! We're a café, not a full restaurant or patisserie.

About

J'vala Tia is the owner of the Pressed Leaf. The property was donated to him by his cousin and mentor, J'ahma.J'vala wanted to create a space that would benefit the community, especially those struggling to make a living. The Pressed Leaf's free food carts ensure that families have enough to eat, and its library provides a space for children to learn.The Pressed Leaf's charitable endeavors are partially funded by the sales of food and drink in the café. Additional funding comes from generous benefactors who wish to see all the people of Ul'dah flourish.
